The Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry (MPIB) in Martinsried is one of the world's leading research institutions in the fields of biochemistry, cell and structural biology, and biomedical research. With approximately 30 scientific departments and research groups and about 750 employees, the MPIB is one of the largest institutes of the Max Planck Society.
We are looking for an enthusiastic new colleague with a laboratory or technical assistant degree in the sciences who would be excited to pursue a career in electron microscopy.
The Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry has a large, vibrant community of electron microscopists that develop and uses novel cryo-electron microscopy, tomography, and focused-ion beam scanning electron microscopy methods in tandem with international and industrial partners. We are looking for a technical or laboratory assistant who is keen to operate and take care of our electron microscopes, and who is willing to contribute to our research projects that aim to improve and develop electron microscope technology to study biological samples. The candidate will work in a motivated international and multidisciplinary research environment with teams performing state-of-the-art research using cryo-electron microscopes.
The ideal candidate will have a degree as a technical assistant or laboratory technician in physics or the natural sciences and preferably have experience in operating and working with complex equipment and show a keen interest in understanding how they function and how to troubleshoot them. We also offer recent graduates who are willing to learn and want to venture into electron microscopy the opportunity to enter directly into an interesting working environment. Very good English language skills and strong interpersonal skills are required.
The salary level will be according to TVöD (Bund) (public salary scale). The initial appointment is for two years with the possibility for extension.
